My Latest Craving {healthy dessert}

My kids must think that something is up. I never used to make dessert for our family. Unless there was a birthday or visitor, dessert was not on the menu at our home. Since I felt they were bombarded with sugary foods everywhere we went, I really wanted to limit my kid's sugar intake at home (though, at the time, I did a terrible job of limiting my own *guilty face*).

And now I'm trying to stay away from processed sugar more than ever. Buuuut, we're having "dessert" more than ever.

Here's the secret. I actually want my kids to eat dessert now. *shhhh* Don't tell them; it might ruin their fun.

You see, I've discovered the world of sugar-free desserts. Now wait. Let me clarify. Not sugar-free as in man-made, don't-even-get-me-started sugar-free. Sugar-free as in naturally, as God-made-it-sugar-free. Desserts like I posted BEFORE. And there are wonderful blogs dedicated to this type of thing. I'm just a newbie to all of this. But with the right ingredients and my new discovery of raw cacao butter, I tried my hand at creating a chocolate pizza. And it was a hit with my 5 local food critics.

Chocolate Pizza- Sugar-Free, Vegan, & Raw

To make the crust blend the following a food processor or blender:
  • 2 ripe bananas
  • 1/4 c. grated raw cacao butter
  • 1/4 c. raw cacao powder (or ground cacao nibs)
  • 1 Tbsp. raw local honey
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla
  • 1/4 c. unsweetened coconut
  • pinch of salt
Cover a large plate with wax paper. Pour the blended mixture onto the plate and use a spoon to form into a thin pizza crust shape. Freeze thoroughly.

To make the sauce blend the following ingredients:
  • 1/3 c. almonds ground until starting to thicken (almond butter would probably work as well)
  • 1 1/2 Tbsp. raw local honey
  • 1 Tbsp. coconut oil
Once the crust is fully frozen, put the sauce on top and sprinkle unsweetened coconut over the top. Refreeze for 10 more minutes. Slice and serve. Then sit back and watch your kids scarf down fruit, vitamins, minerals, and good fats all under the guise of dessert.
